2022 | “When the roots touch the gold” – a community art project, which addresses travellers, who came from abroad to live in Panevezys, or who were born here, went exploring the world and eventually decided to return back and settle in Panevėžys. The non-material part of the project consisted of 17 interviews about what made those people stay in the city [ the gold they found ], and how they have created their homes as travellers [ the extension of the roots, the grounding action ]. The installation in Skaistakalnio parkas, Panevėžys, Lithuania was an expression of more than 24 hours of interactions with travellers: moments of inspiration, openess, tears of joy, support, clarifications, nuggets of human leaves, branches, trunk and precious underground roots. The material part of the project consisted of gilding (putting real gold coats on) personal items related to the grounding story, that people trusted to give to the creator of this project, resulting in one visual instalation. There were made some connections between the stories, yet shown what each of them has solely. This self-exploratory instalation was open from Wednesday, 9th of March, at 6:00pm, and will end on 16th of March at 6:00pm (lasting one full week) 2022, in the dome at Skaistakalnio Park. The sponsors who made this project and installation possible are @Panevezio miesto savivaldybe, @Lietuvos kulturos taryba, @Artihost. The installation is created by Stefania Pasare, who was Artihost Art & Culture resident, and all the participants whose personal objects are exhibited.
